I spent lots of time tuning my Bosch MFI [mechanical fuel injection] on my 1973 911 Carrera RS tribute. Various forums, primarily Pelican parts were key to my education. I found out VERY quickly that I needed a good way to know what my Air Fuel Ration or AFR was in the engine. Maximum efficiency is 14.7:1 ratio of air to fuel. 13:1 is good for best power. Modern instruments now have wide band oygen sensors that are quite accurate and very fast to react.
It is one thing to test on a dyno, but what you really need is full time, permanently mounted monitoring that also has the ability to record data so you can analyzed it later.......pretty tough to remember what RPM, load, etc. for a certain reading. Ideally you monitor AFR, vacuum/pressure [or MAP], and RPM. fter a lot of research and testing I found this Daytona-Sensors WEGO unit that satisfied all of my needs in an accurate, rugged package. I permanently installed it on my 911 and tuned the MFI to excellent performance. I have a dash readout in front of me and the ability up to 2 hours of data by plugging into the front panel micro USB connector and downloading the data to my laptop.
