- I installed a CD-1 in my 1973 911 2.7 MFI RS Carrera tribute 8 years ago. It has proven to be such and improvement over the OEM Bosch unit that I could not believe it. The KV to the plugs is many multiple what the Bosch unit put out. MFI presents a big challenge to the ignition. The mixture can be way to rich at times and a much hotter spark helps a lot.
Another great thing about the CD-1 is the soft rev limiter. No more "hitting the wall" witht he centrifugal rotor shorting out the ignition. I hav mine set at a nice safe 6600 RPM and when you hit it you get a soft missing that increases. You don't mind running into this limit knowing that it is below the 7200 RPM factory limit and you get such a nice gradual warning. This can be programmed externally without getting into programming with a computer.
Start up is much quicker as well. I have a manual push button on my dash for the fuel solenoid valve and it is easy to put in too much fuel on cold start. This ignition burns through the rich mixture and starts the engine.
This kit comes complete with a matching transformer type coil. Very rugged and robust. Round Bosch coils can be unreliable, this solves that problem.
The CD-1 has lots of data gathering functions along with programability such as the advance curve. You can download data directly to your computer with a USB cable.

Older Windows® versions and Mac® are not supported. PC Link allows the user to program all the parameters and tables within the CD-1™system. Minimum PC requirement is a 300 MHz Pentium® with super VGA display (SVGA with 1024 x 768 pixel resolution). The CD-1™ connects to the PC by means of the USB interface supplied with the system.
